Harry Hickton is targeting further success in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE JCW this weekend (16-17 August) as the one-make series makes its annual trip north of the border to Knockhill in Scotland.
Poised to write the latest chapter of his 2025 season at the popular Fife venue, the Mannpower Motorsport driver makes just second-ever visit to the 1.27-mile circuit riding a wave of momentum after enjoying his strongest outing to-date at Croft less than two weeks’ ago.
Kick-starting the second half of the campaign in North Yorkshire, the 19-year-old underlined his credentials as a serial contender at the front of the field by claiming a brace of top-five finishes and two Rookie Cup wins.
Now - with the backing of Maber Construction, Hysons Chartered Accountants, The Platform Lift Company, Vernham Labels, Woodstock Plumbing and Heating Supplies, MDH Roofing & Son, Vertex VT Consultants, GSF Car Parts and DPH Services - Hickton is chasing even more success.
Making the long journey from his hometown of Andover in Hampshire to the Scottish hills, last year’s MINI CHALLENGE Trophy title winner is setting his sights on another strong showing and has touted a maiden overall podium finish as one of his targets.
Harry Hickton: “I’m really looking forward to competing at Knockhill again! It’s been a few years since I’ve raced there and it’s going to be in a rather different car to last time. That being said, it’s one of the best tracks on the calendar so I’m excited to get going.
“As a circuit it’s an absolute blast. It’s one of the those tracks where you can gain lots of time by really attacking, however if you attack just a little bit too much then your lap time can be ruined. The car is going to be on a proper knife-edge and I’ll be truly on the limit.
“To be going to Knockhill having had my best weekend of the season is a real positive too and a boost for the confidence. Both myself and the team are in a good place currently; so maintaining momentum therefore is important.
“I’ve not doubt that qualifying is going to be hectic so it will be about finding a rhythm and just nailing a string of laps. If we can put ourselves up on the first few rows of the grid then I see no reason why I can’t be challenging for my first overall podium of the season.”
Qualifying at Knockhill goes down at 10:35 on Saturday before the opening encounter takes place later that afternoon at 16:15. Two more races - at 09:20 and 13:40 - will follow on Sunday, with coverage being broadcast live on ITV4 and ITVX.
